About

Nayan Ghosh was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra to the legendary Tabla Maestro Padmabhushan Pandit Nikhil Ghosh, the founder of Sangeet Mahabharati. He was trained by his father in both sitar and tabla, and practiced under the watchful eye of Ustad Ahmedjan Thirakwa, who lived with them for many years towards the end of his life in Mumbai. Nayan Ghosh began giving solo performances at the age of 4 and was touring the world with his father by the age of 18.

Artistic brilliance, rich repertoire and a magnificence of tone are the hallmarks of his performances. Having received intensive and extensive training in tabla, sitar and vocal from his illustrious father, the renowned Padmabhushan Nikhil Ghosh, Nayan Ghosh is respected among musicians and loved by discerning listeners for his innate artistry and emotive musical depth. 

Over the last four decades, Nayan Ghosh has travelled extensively presenting Sitar and Tabla concerts both in India and the capital cities of the world. His performances at the prestigious International Music Festivals of Helsinki, Bratislava, Rome, Barcelona, Murcia, Athens, the World Music Festivals of Seattle, Chicago, Estonia, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York among several others have been highly acclaimed.

Pt. Nayan Ghosh has been an A grade artist on All India Radio in both the sitar and tabla categories for over 25 years, and has performed with nearly every major Indian Classical Musician. Over the years he has performed, lectured and taught extensively across the length and breadth of the Indian sub-continent and in capital cities of Europe, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the Far East.
