Our Tribute to Allarakha concert on September 10th is also an important fundraiser for the Music Circle. After 27 years of existence, we find ourselves at a crucial stage in our development. Performance of Indian classical music, like many traditional art forms, has always required the patronage of a dedicated group of music lovers. In the beginning, this came from kings and emporers. In this century, governments have entered the picture and groups of dedicated listeners or "music circles" have developed. As Indian classical music spreads all over the world, it is individuals who feel a deep passion for the music who will be responsible for its continuing to blossom. All of us at the Music Circle urge you to support us through your patronage so that we may continue to share our passion for presenting the finest Indian classical artists well into the future. All contributors will receive preferential seating, and $250 and $500 donors will be invited to a private reception with the artists following the concert.
