Tejendra Majumdar, sarod

Tejendra Majumdar is one of the most highly respected sarod players of the younger generation. He represents the Senia Maihar school of instrumental music. The most notable exponents of this style are Ali Akbar Khan and Ravi Shankar. Born in 1961, Tejendra began his studies with his grandfather, Bibhuti Rajan Majumdar and his father Ranjan Majumdar who were his teachers in instrumental music. His study of vocal music was with Amaresh Chowdhury. He later became a disciple of Bahadur khan and after his death, Tejendra studied with Ajay Rai Sinha. Now Tejendra receives guidance from Ali Akbar Khan. Tejendra, has a unique style in which he creates a subtle balance of the tantrakari and gayaki traditions. He has performed in all the major music conferences and festivals in India and has toured to international acclaim.

 

 

Subhankar Banerjee, tabla

Subhankar is a highly talented representative of the Farukhabad gharana. He received his initial training from his father, Sunil Kumar Banerjee and later continued under the guidance of Preetimoy Goswami and Swapan Siva. Subhankar has performed internationally with many distinguished artists including Ajoy Chakrabarty, Rashid Khan, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Shahid Parvez, and Shivkumar Sharma.
