The Music Circle Presents

EXPRESSIONS  OF  DEVOTION


Many Asian traditions, in both language and the arts, share roots in the cultures of the Indian sub-continent. We will touch upon some of these traditions, with special emphasis on the great Buddhist cultures of Japan, Sri Lanka and Thailand, in honor of Buddha's birthday.

The day will begin and end with devotional music of India.

We are honored to have the participation of the following:

THE CHILDREN'S ORCHESTRA from the Wat Thai of Los Angeles

CHANTING IN PALI by monks from Thailand and Sri Lanka

GOMA RITUAL IN SANSKRIT by Bishop Taisen Miyata from Koyasan Buddhist Temple

Booths in the courtyard in front of Thorne Hall will have artifacts and books for Sale.
