Rajna Swaminathan is an accomplished mridangam artist. She is a disciple and protégé of mridangam maestro Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman.

Rajna is one of only a handful of female mridangam artists in the world. She has accompanied many renowned musicians widely in the US, Canada, and India. She has also performed extensively in the December Music Festival in Chennai. Rajna works with several dancers and performs lecture demonstrations and workshops at universities and prominent percussion events, such as Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC). Rajna has a base in classical piano and has also learned Bharatanatyam (South Indian classical dance) for some years. She is currently an undergraduate student of Cultural Anthropology and French at the University of Maryland in College Park.
